The role involves working across application firmware, communication protocols, hardware interfaces, and system integration to build reliable and scalable embedded solutions.
You will work closely with hardware, communication stack, QA, cloud, and production teams to take products from development through validation and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop modular embedded applications for IoT devices, controllers, sensors, and smart meters.
- Develop application firmware on top of communication stacks such as RF, Wi-SUN, BLE, and LoRa.
- Implement device logic, command handling, data management, state machines, and system interfaces.
- Integrate protocols including DLMS/COSEM, Modbus, MQTT, and CoAP.
- Develop real-time, event-driven applications using RTOS and Bare Metal environments.
- Work with hardware interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, ADC, timers, and watchdogs.
- Debug application, middleware, and driver-level issues using JTAG, logic analyzers, serial traces, and other debugging tools.
- Support board bring-up, interface validation, field testing, and production readiness.
- Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, reliability, and power consumption.
- Contribute to software architecture, module interfaces, data flow, and technical design decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated and production-ready solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, testing, documentation, and technical mentoring.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Communication Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in embedded software/application development.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and embedded programming.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M, STM32, MSP430, or similar microcontrollers.
- Strong understanding of RTOS concepts, task scheduling, inter-task communication, and real-time systems.
- Experience with IoT and communication protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, DLMS/COSEM, and Modbus.
- Hands-on experience with embedded debugging and hardware interfaces.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, software development practices, and code reviews.
- Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Good to Have
- Experience in IoT, Smart Metering, Smart City, or Industrial IoT products.
- Knowledge of Wi-SUN, LoRa, BLE, NB-IoT, or other wireless technologies.
- Understanding of embedded security, bootloaders, OTA/FOTA, and firmware update mechanisms.
- Experience with Python scripting, test automation, and hardware validation.
- Exposure to low-power design and energy profiling.
