We are looking for an experienced Electric Motor & Motor Controller Engineer to lead the research, design, development, testing, and manufacturing of high-performance electric motors and motor controllers for electric vehicles.
This is a leadership-level technical role. The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience and be capable of developing an electric powertrain from the ground up—from concept and simulation to prototype development, testing, manufacturing, and mass production.
The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing our in-house motor and controller manufacturing capabilities while building a world-class engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Design electric motors from scratch, including electromagnetic, mechanical, and thermal aspects.
* Develop high-efficiency BLDC, PMSM, and IPMSM motors.
* Optimize torque, efficiency, cooling, NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness), and reliability.
* Design stators, rotors, shafts, housings, and magnet assemblies.
* Select suitable magnetic materials, laminations, copper wire, bearings, insulation systems, and manufacturing processes.
* Design and develop high-performance motor controllers (FOC, vector control, sensorless control, regenerative braking).
* Develop inverter hardware using MOSFET/IGBT/SiC technologies.
* Design PCB architecture, gate drivers, power electronics, and protection systems.
* Develop embedded firmware for motor controllers.
* Perform motor simulations using electromagnetic and thermal analysis software.
* Validate prototypes through laboratory and vehicle testing.
* Establish testing procedures including efficiency mapping, thermal testing, vibration analysis, ingress protection, endurance, and reliability testing.
* Develop manufacturing processes for motor winding, magnet insertion, rotor balancing, impregnation, assembly, and quality inspection.
* Design production tooling, jigs, fixtures, and assembly lines.
* Source suppliers for magnets, laminations, bearings, copper wire, castings, electronics, and power semiconductors.
* Work with certification agencies to obtain required automotive approvals.
* Build engineering documentation including BOMs, SOPs, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing work instructions.
* Recruit, mentor, and lead an engineering team as the company grows.
* Stay updated with the latest EV motor technologies and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
* 8–15+ years of experience in electric motor and motor controller development.
* Proven experience taking an electric motor from concept to production.
* Strong understanding of BLDC, PMSM, IPMSM, induction motors, and switched reluctance motors.
