Role Description
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Cloud / Platform Engineer to help modernize orchestration workflows by migrating
Apache Airflow pipelines (Python DAGs) to
AWS Step Functions.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in
Python development, AWS cloud engineering, and Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform. This role focuses on designing scalable workflow orchestration, automating cloud infrastructure, and strengthening platform engineering capabilities.
In addition, the engineer will support
platform administration and configuration of Atlan and Elementary, collaborating closely with data engineering and platform teams. High-performing candidates may have opportunities for
extended engagement beyond the initial migration phase.
Experience
8+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps roles.

Key Responsibilities
Workflow Modernization
- Migrate and modernize Apache Airflow Python DAGs into AWS Step Functions
- Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable orchestration workflows
- Optimize workflow performance, fault tolerance, and operational visibility
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform
- Develop Python-based automation, orchestration logic, and platform tooling
- Engineer and support core AWS services including:
- AWS Step Functions
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon S3
- AWS IAM
- Amazon CloudWatch
DevOps & Platform Engineering
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
- Implement monitoring, logging, and ing for production workflows
- Ensure reliability, security, and scalability of cloud workloads
Collaboration & Platform Support
- Partner with data engineering and platform teams on architecture, operations, and platform improvements
- Assist with configuration, integration, and administration of Atlan and Elementary
- Contribute to platform best practices, documentation, and operational standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong Python development experience, particularly in automation and workflow orchestration
- Hands-on expertise with Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS infrastructure
- Solid experience working with core AWS services, including:
- AWS Lambda
- AWS Step Functions
- Amazon S3
- AWS IAM
- Amazon CloudWatch
- Experience developing and maintaining Apache Airflow DAGs
- Strong DevOps capabilities, including CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture principles, including reliability, security, and scalability best practices
