About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining Opella’s cloud and automation foundations. This position requires strong hands-on expertise in Azure, Terraform, and GitHub, ensuring secure, scalable, and automated cloud infrastructure. You will contribute to defining governance models, ways of working, and technical implementation standards that will shape Opella’s cloud and DevOps landscape. Experience with observability or monitoring tools such as New Relic or Splunk is considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, governance alignment, and security across environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, including reusable modules, environment provisioning, and state management.
- Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions, automating infrastructure deployments, testing, compliance, and platform configuration.
- Establish and uphold GitHub governance, including repository standards, branch protection, code scanning integration, and secrets management.
- Define and promote DevOps ways of working, contributing to cloud governance frameworks, automation strategies, and platform engineering standards.
- Collaborate with application, architecture, and operations teams to integrate Azure services, harmonize cloud patterns, and improve developer productivity.
- Support modernization and migration initiatives, leveraging automation and IaC for deployment, configuration, and environment lifecycle management.
- Participate in architectural and design discussions, providing expert guidance on cloud infrastructure, automation patterns, and DevOps best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance tooling, efficiency, operational reliability, and cloud maturity.
(Nice to have) Observability-related responsibilities
- Support the migration from Splunk to New Relic when required.
- Assist teams in implementing logging, metrics, APM instrumentation, or dashboards in New Relic.
- Contribute to observability governance and standardization efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Strong practical expertise in Azure, Terraform, and GitHub/GitHub Actions.
- Experience defining or supporting cloud governance, automation standards, and infrastructure best practices.
- Exposure to observability technologies (e.g., New Relic, Splunk) is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated, and globally distributed environment.
