Role Description The Senior Design Engineer – HVAC will lead the design and development of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client specifications. This full-time, on-site role is based in Chennai and involves preparing detailed HVAC layouts, performing load calculations, selecting equipment, and creating technical documentation and BOQs. The role includes coordinating with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines, reviewing vendor proposals, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and designers. The Senior Design Engineer – HVAC will also participate in site visits, support installation and commissioning activities, and contribute to continuous improvement of design practices and standards.
Qualifications
- Strong HVAC design expertise, including load calculations, duct and piping design, equipment selection, and familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IS codes).
- Proficiency with HVAC design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar BIM tools, and MS Office for reports and documentation.
- Solid understanding of building services integration, including coordination with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural disciplines.
- Project planning and coordination skills, with experience managing timelines, resources, and technical deliverables for multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address design challenges, optimize system performance, and improve energy efficiency.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal teams, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree or relevant certifications in HVAC or building services is an advantage.
- Several years of experience in HVAC system design for commercial or industrial projects, ideally in a consulting or contracting environment.
- Experience with green building concepts, energy-efficient design, and familiarity with sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, IGBC) is beneficial.
