Job Title: Senior DBA / Cloud Data Platform Engineer
Location: Hyderabad/ Remote (Night Shift)
Employment Type: Contract / Full-Time
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior DBA / Cloud Data Platform Engineer to join our team in a blended role that combines database operations, cloud architecture, data governance, and DevOps automation. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience managing enterprise databases alongside a strong understanding of modern cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations (40%)
- Manage, monitor, and maintain production databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar) ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, performance bottlenecks, and outages in a timely manner
- Perform routine DBA tasks including backups, restores, patching, indexing, and capacity planning
- Provide Tier 2/3 support to development and application teams
Cloud Architecture & Migration (30%)
- Design and implement cloud-native data solutions on Azure, AWS, or GCP (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS/Aurora, BigQuery, Snowflake)
- Lead or support database migration projects from on-premises to cloud environments
- Architect scalable, cost-optimized data platform solutions aligned with business requirements
- Evaluate and recommend cloud services and database technologies
Data Governance (20%)
- Implement data anonymization, masking, and obfuscation strategies for non-production environments
- Manage database refresh processes and ensure data controls are in place across environments
- Support compliance requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2 as applicable)
- Maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and access control policies
Automation & DevOps (10%)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Write scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate routine DBA tasks and monitoring
- Set up alerting and monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana, Datadog, or Azure Monitor
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience as a DBA or Data Engineer in enterprise environments
- Strong proficiency in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform — Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Experience with cloud database services (Azure SQL MI, AWS RDS, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
- Solid understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance standards
- Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, or Bash
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices
Nice to Have
- Cloud certifications (Azure Data Engineer, AWS Database Specialty, GCP Professional Data Engineer)
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Knowledge of data cataloging tools (Purview, Collibra, Alation)
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills — able to work effectively across time zones with US-based stakeholders
- Self-driven and comfortable working independently in an offshore model
- Detail-oriented with a structured approach to documentation and problem-solving
