Job Title: Senior Database Administrator (SQL Server – On-Premises)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises) to manage and optimize our database environment.
Please note: Remote/Work from home (Eastern timezone). Immediate joiners preferred.
This role requires a hands-on professional who can independently drive database best practices, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high performance and reliability with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server on-premises environments
- Monitor and manage SQL Server Agent Jobs, including troubleshooting failures and implementing long-term fixes
- Perform core DBA functions such as backup and restore, performance tuning, indexing, and monitoring
- Manage database security, including user roles and permissions
- Write and optimize T-SQL queries to automate administrative tasks and improve efficiency
- Proactively identify and resolve performance and reliability issues
- Implement and enforce database best practices, standards, and processes
- Work independently to assess and improve existing database systems
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Senior DBA working with Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises)
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs and failure diagnostics
- Solid understanding of T-SQL for scripting and automation
- Expertise in backup/recovery strategies and database security
- Ability to work independently and deliver results efficiently without extensive guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is a plus, but not a primary focus
- Experience in environments with limited cloud adoption
