We are seeking a proactive Senior Data Engineer with 6-10 years of experience to join our team in Mangaluru. As a Senior Data Engineer – Product Analytics Platform, you will be the technical backbone of EG’s product analytics infrastructure. You will work closely with a Product Operations Business Partner based in Denmark, who owns the product team relationships and requirements process. You will collaborate directly with the India-based engineering team building the SDK that wraps our analytics tooling, and you will design the data backend that powers how EG’s products instrument, collect, and act on usage data.

Your Workday, Tasks And Mandatory Skill Set

• SDK Design & Data Contracts - Define and govern event taxonomy, schema standards, event naming conventions, property structures, and data contracts for the analytics SDK in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Backend & Data Architecture - Design backend data architecture including data models, warehouse schemas, ingestion pipelines, and transformation of raw event streams into product metrics and aggregations.
• Data Pipelines & Warehouse Management - Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse solutions optimised for product analytics workloads.
• Data Quality & Governance - Ensure data quality, reliability, and governance across the analytics platform through monitoring, alerting, and data lineage.
• Technical Onboarding Infrastructure - Build and maintain technical tooling, documentation, integration guides, schema libraries, and repeatable technical patterns to support product team onboarding.
• Platform Engineering Contribution - Provide technical input on platform roadmap, tooling decisions, metrics layers, semantic layers, and embedded BI capabilities while highlighting technical trade-offs.
• Data Engineering & Infrastructure - Develop and optimise robust data pipelines for event and usage data, monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements using best practices in data engineering.
  
  

You Are The Ideal Candidate If You

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
• Proven experience working on product analytics platforms or data products in a SaaS or software company
• Hands-on experience with event-based analytics tools such as PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar
• Experience designing event taxonomies, warehouse schemas, and data models for product usage data
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or equivalent pipeline language)
• Experience with modern data stack tooling: dbt, Airflow, Prefect, or similar orchestration and transformation frameworks
• Familiarity with event-based or streaming data architectures (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar)
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or ClickHouse
• Understanding of API and SDK design principles; experience defining or consuming data contracts a strong plus
• Knowledge of BI and data visualisation tools (Metabase, Looker, Superset, Power BI, or similar)
• Strong understanding of product metrics concepts: activation, retention, engagement, feature adoption, funnel analysis, NPS, and cohort analysis
• Ability to evaluate incoming requirements critically identifying ambiguities, schema conflicts, or measurement problems before they become bugs
• Familiarity with metrics governance and event taxonomy standardisation in a multi-product organisation
• Comfortable working asynchronously with a Denmark-based business partner, able to respond to requirements in writing, raise questions clearly, and flag blockers proactively

• Experience designing or contributing to instrumentation SDKs or analytics client libraries
• Background in A/B testing, feature flagging, or experimentation platforms
• Familiarity with data mesh or domain-oriented data ownership models
• Experience in a platform or infrastructure team serving multiple internal product teams
