Role: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full time (preferred) or On Contract
Role Overview: We are seeking a senior Data Engineer with 8+ years of experience to lead a critical data modernization project. You will be responsible for migrating the entire data structures and schema from Oracle (on-prem/legacy) to Microsoft SQL Server on Azure. This role requires a specialist who understands the nuances of Oracle PL/SQL and can architect a performant, relational environment in Azure.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end migration of data tables from Oracle to Azure SQL Server.
- Review Data schema and suggest any improvement in the new schema in Azure MS SQL
- Enforce data integrity by implementing Primary Keys, Foreign Keys, and proper table associations during the migration process.
- Rewrite Oracle-specific views and stored procedures into T-SQL optimized for Azure.
- Ensure the migrated SQL Server environment is indexed correctly for business reporting.
Technical Requirements:
- Expertise in Oracle including deep knowledge of PL/SQL, schema design, and Oracle data types.
- Azure SQL Proficiency: Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server on Azure and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
- Migration Tools: Familiarity with SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant) or similar ETL tools.
- Ability to work overlapping hours with U.S. time zones for sprint syncs as required.
- Preferred Certification - Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate.
