Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer (7–10 years) to play a key role in building a greenfield, Snowflake-based enterprise data platform at Everest Group.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role focused on designing and delivering scalable data solutions. You will be responsible for building robust data pipelines, integrating enterprise SaaS systems, and enabling analytics-ready data for business and research teams.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in API-based data integration, Snowflake ELT development, and production-grade data pipeline management, along with a sharp focus on performance, cost optimization, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1) SaaS Data Integration & Ingestion (Primary Focus)
a) Design, build, and maintain robust data ingestion pipelines from enterprise SaaS platforms, including:
- Salesforce (CRM)
- NetSuite (Finance)
- Marketing and RevOps tools such as Marketo, 6sense, Gong
- SharePoint (files, metadata, permissions)
b) Develop robust API-based ingestion frameworks handling:
- Authentication & authorization
- Pagination, rate limiting, retries, and failure handling
- Incremental loads, soft deletes, and historical tracking
- Schema evolution and upstream changes
2) Snowflake Data Engineering & Transformation
- Build and maintain scalable ELT pipelines in Snowflake
- Develop high-performance SQL transformations for large datasets
- Design and manage data layers (raw, staging, curated)
- Optimize Snowflake usage for performance and cost efficiency
3) Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement
a) Design analytics-ready data models, including:
- Fact and dimension tables
- Star and snowflake schemas
- Slowly Changing Dimensions (Type 1 & Type 2)
b) Enable seamless reporting, dashboards, and research analytics
c) Collaborate with analytics and research teams to deliver high-quality datasets
4) Platform Ownership, Reliability & Governance
a) Own end-to-end pipeline reliability:
- Scheduling, monitoring, alerting, and recovery
b) Implement data quality frameworks ensuring:
- Accuracy, completeness, and freshness
c) Contribute to Snowflake platform setup:
- Environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod)
- Role-based access control (RBAC)
- Secure handling of sensitive data (PII)
d) Troubleshoot issues across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
5) Collaboration & Engineering Excellence
a) Partner with cross-functional teams (analytics, research, product, tech)
b) Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
c) Contribute to data platform architecture and best practices
d) Maintain clear documentation of pipelines and data models
e) Follow modern engineering practices:
- Git-based version control
- CI/CD workflows
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- 7–10 years of experience in data engineering or related roles
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (ELT, optimization, performance tuning)
- Proven experience integrating SaaS platforms via APIs (CRM, Finance, Marketing, HR systems)
- Advanced SQL skills and strong understanding of data modeling concepts
- Proficiency in Python for data ingestion, automation, and API integrations
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
- Familiarity with tools like dbt, Azure Data Factory, or similar orchestration frameworks
- Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
