The Data Center Services team manages global data center spaces and co-location cages housing corporate network, server and storage system assets needed to deliver services to Foundever’s customers.
Job Summary
Senior Data Center Engineers ensures global data centers are installed and operated in accordance with industry standards, optimized for efficient utilization of resources, maintained for reliability, and at all times comply with applicable data protection and security requirements.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Monitor data center performance, capacity, power, cooling, and environmental conditions
- Maintains compliance with industry regulations regarding privacy and security issues
- Collaborates with other departments to create a strategic plan for IT infrastructure growth or update existing plans as needed
- Supports our supplier relationships and fully understand their engagement processes and work flow.
- Extremely close management of Incidents, Problem tickets and Change Controls in a complex data center environment to reduce risk and utilize safe times for repair and change
- Works with engineers to design new data center facilities or modify existing ones to meet capacity needs
- Optimizes the utilization of data center spaces
- Reviews data center operations to identify potential areas of improvement or inefficiency in order to improve efficiency or reduce costs
- Coordinates the creation of disaster recovery plans for critical systems and data in case of an emergency
- May require after-hours support, on-call rotation, or weekend maintenance
Required Experience
Minimum
- General understanding of power which includes load and capacity planning, redundancy and resilience (N, N+1, 2N), AC power concepts, and how power is measures (watts, kilowatts, kVA, etc)
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience coordinating project tasks and events with multiple teams and departments
- Knowledgeable of capacity planning concepts
- Knowledgeable of preventative maintenance concepts and practices
- Experience with maintaining working relationships with vendors and service providers
- Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and communication skills
Preferred –
- Knowledgeable of Structured Cabling Systems
- Cabling best practices
- Industry data center standards
- Critical awareness methods
- Knowledge of and experience with facility electrical systems (ATS, UPS, electrical switching, electrical distribution systems)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management or a related field or equivalent experience.
