About the Role
The Senior Security Engineer (Lead) will take ownership of broader security initiatives while mentoring and guiding a team of 6–8 engineers. The role is intended for someone who can operate as a hands-on senior, elevate team capability, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and help shape practical security outcomes rather than only execute routine tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and drive broad cybersecurity initiatives across security operations, security engineering, and client-facing delivery.
- Provide technical direction, prioritization support, and day-to-day mentoring for a team of 6–8 security engineers.
- Bring hands-on experience in core cybersecurity functions, with strong working exposure to security operations and vulnerability assessment or testing activities.
- Work across multiple security domains as needed, including detection, response, exposure management, cloud security, and security improvement programs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and adjacent teams to translate security requirements into practical, well-executed outcomes.
- Contribute to security innovation by identifying and shaping practical AI use cases for security, as well as secure-AI use cases where relevant.
- Help improve the team’s execution maturity through stronger ownership, better technical judgment, clearer communication, and continuous learning habits.
Experience Required
- 5–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a progression that demonstrates increasing ownership and technical breadth.
- Proven hands-on experience in security operations and broader security engineering or assessment work.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating junior to mid-level security engineers in a delivery environment.
- Practical exposure to cybersecurity initiatives that extend beyond routine BAU execution and require planning, judgment, and follow-through.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience applying AI in security use cases, securing AI-enabled systems, or both.
- Working knowledge of cloud security concepts, with at least one relevant cloud certification preferred.
- Good exposure to common security platforms and tools across domains, with the ability to adapt across products rather than depend on a single vendor stack.
Skills Required
- Strong understanding of security operations, incident handling, detection thinking, and operational security workflows.
- Broad cybersecurity awareness across multiple domains, with the ability to connect technical issues to business risk and delivery priorities.
- Practical problem-solving ability, especially in ambiguous or evolving delivery environments.
- Clear stakeholder communication, including the ability to explain technical issues, present recommendations, and influence action.
- Ownership mindset, proactive learning behavior, and the ability to raise the bar for team discipline and delivery quality.
- Interest in using AI to simplify, strengthen, or scale security outcomes in pragmatic ways.
Preferred qualifications
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications aligned to security operations, assessment, cloud, or defensive security.
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or workflow optimization in security environments.
- Experience working in managed services, consulting, or multi-client security delivery environments
- Familiarity with emerging areas such as AI governance, secure AI adoption, or AI-assisted security workflows is a strong advantage
