What You’ll Be Doing (Position Summary):
CIBC’s Communications team is responsible for managing all internal corporate-level communications to employees. As Senior Consultant, Communications, you will be responsible for helping to plan and execute communications supporting CIBC India.
Your primary focus will be on internal communications as you bring to life CIBC India’s mandate, strategic initiatives, and employee engagement activities, while fostering a strong connection with our team in Canada. This will include events planning and management, executive communications and engagement, and additional writing, editing and communications counsel around key initiatives at CIBC India. You will be working with partners across CIBC’s Communications team to plan and execute employee events, produce videos and multimedia content, and influence communications plans for CIBC India.
Your focus will also be on providing foundational media relations support in India that would include assessing and evaluating the media landscape in Hyderabad as it relates to Global Capability Centers and the financial services industry. You will also be expected to help manage media inbounds and relationships with local media while being supported by CIBC’s Public Relations team and, where needed, an external agency partner.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed (Responsibilities):
- Communications and Multimedia Expertise – Help lead the execution of strategic communications plans and events that support CIBC India’s initiatives, strategic priorities, and employee engagement activities. Own the planning and production of the plans dictating these events and communications, while helping to experiment with new storytelling tools and formats. Be comfortable working with senior executives and in providing advice on effective employee communications in India.
- Relationship Management and Business Acumen – Gain exposure to senior executives across CIBC and CIBC India to form strong working partnerships focused on outcomes. Bring a growth mindset to learning about the new technologies, tools and ways of working transforming financial services. Work closely with teams that include multimedia production, corporate events, business management, intranet and translations on communications programs and projects.
- Assess and Inform – Provide insights and assessments around the local media landscape in Hyderabad. Work in partnership with CIBC’s Public Relations team to manage media inbounds and relationships with local media. Where needed, work with agency partners and leadership to evaluate and help respond to local issues.
- Influence and Advise – Bring communications and multimedia expertise to ensure programs connect to our objectives. Ensure properties are approached with the right tone, content and timing, while adhering to CIBC’s brand standards. Along the way, advise on ways to improve the efficiency and quality of CIBC India’s multimedia programs year-over-year. Play a role in ensuring communication strategies and tactics are successfully implemented.
Experience: 8+ years of experience
Who You Are (Skills / Qualifications):
- 8+ years in a communications role, with a focus on internal and external communications.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills with first-rate attention to detail.
- Proficiency in employee engagement events in activities
- Capacity to produce and edit multimedia programs.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into relevant and relatable media formats.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Solid relationship skills to build trust, influence and achieve results.
- Solid ability to manage competing/demanding/simultaneous priorities.
- A self-starter who collaborates and demonstrates accountability.
- Previous experience with executive communications and event management is an asset.
