Principal Consultant – Market Access & Pricing Strategy (Life Sciences)
About the Role
We are seeking a person in Market Access & Pricing Strategy to join our Life Sciences consulting practice. In this role, you will partner with leading global pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare companies to solve complex strategic challenges related to pricing, reimbursement, payer access, and product commercialization.
You will lead consulting engagements that translate clinical, economic, and market data into actionable strategies to optimize product access and value realization. The role requires strong structured problem solving, advanced analytics, and client engagement skills, along with a deep understanding of global healthcare and payer ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Market Access & Pricing Strategy
- Lead global and regional market access and pricing strategy engagements.
- Develop pricing strategies and launch sequencing plans considering payer dynamics, international reference pricing, reimbursement policies, and competitive landscape.
- Evaluate payer landscapes, coverage policies, HTA requirements, and reimbursement pathways to identify access opportunities and barriers.
- Develop value propositions and payer messaging aligned with clinical and economic evidence.
- Support market access and reimbursement strategies across key markets, including the US, EU, and APAC.
Strategic Consulting & Insights
- Apply structured and hypothesis-driven approaches to solve complex market access and commercial challenges.
- Conduct market landscape assessments, competitor benchmarking, payer analysis, and access pathway evaluations.
- Develop quantitative models, scenarios, and forecasts to assess pricing, reimbursement, and market uptake.
- Translate complex healthcare and market data into clear and actionable recommendations for senior client stakeholders.
HEOR & Evidence Strategy
- Support Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) initiatives, including cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses.
- Integrate clinical data, epidemiology, and Real-World Evidence (RWE) to strengthen payer value propositions.
- Develop evidence generation strategies and value frameworks to support market access and reimbursement decisions.
Client & Project Leadership
- Lead client engagements and project workstreams, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
- Manage client workshops, strategic discussions, and executive-level presentations.
- Collaborate with HEOR, analytics, data science, and commercial strategy teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability development within the consulting practice.
Data & Analytics
- Leverage healthcare datasets and commercial intelligence platforms to generate actionable market insights.
- Develop analytical models, dashboards, and scenario analyses supporting pricing, access, forecasting, and payer strategy.
- Utilize industry databases such as IQVIA, Evaluate Pharma, GlobalData, and MMIT to support strategic recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Health Economics, Public Health, or Business.
- 5-10 years of experience in life sciences consulting, market access strategy, HEOR, or pharmaceutical commercial analytics.
- Strong knowledge of global pricing and reimbursement frameworks, HTA processes, and payer systems.
- Demonstrated experience supporting pharmaceutical commercialization or market access strategy projects.
Required Skills
- Strong structured problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
- Expertise in healthcare market analysis, pricing strategy, and payer insights.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Python/R, and BI tools (Tableau or Power BI).
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling consulting recommendations.
- Excellent client communication and executive presentation skills.
