About the Role
The CAD engineer produces high-quality AutoCAD drawings for civil and electrical layouts of 5–10 MW solar plants. Works from engineering instructions and sketches to produce final DXF/DWG drawings ready for submission and field use.
Responsibilities
Electrical
- Produce single-line diagrams (SLDs) for solar PV plants inverters, transformers, switchgear, and metering
- Draw array wiring diagrams string layouts, combiner box connections, and DC cable routing plans
- Prepare AC cable layout drawings, cable trench routing, and cable schedule sheets
- Create earthing and lightning protection layout drawings as per IS/IEC standards
- Draft panel wiring and control room electrical layouts for DISCOM / CEI submission packages
Mechanical
- Produce solar module mounting structure drawings fixed tilt and seasonal tilt ground-mount systems
- Draw module row layout plans showing inter-row spacing, pitch, tilt angles, and shadow analysis zones
- Draft equipment arrangement drawings for inverter stations, transformer bays, and O&M rooms
- Prepare as-built structural/mechanical drawings post construction
Civil
- Produce site layout plans module row arrangements, internal roads, fencing, and drainage
- Draw cable trench layout drawings with dimensions, depths, and bend radii
- Prepare control room and inverter room floor plans, elevation, and foundation drawings
- Convert KMZ/KML site boundary data into AutoCAD drawings with survey coordinates
- Draft drainage and storm water management layouts; prepare earthwork cut-and-fill plans
- Print and compile drawing packages for DISCOM, CEI, local body, and authority submissions
General (all disciplines)
- Maintain layer standards and title block format per Purshotam Renewables drawing standard
- Manage unified CAD drawing library — version control, revision management, and document numbering
- Prepare as-built drawing sets within 7 days of site completion for each discipline
- Support engineering team with any cross-discipline drafting task as required
Qualifications
- 4+ years of AutoCAD experience covering at least two of the three disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil
- Diploma (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil) or ITI with demonstrated multi-discipline CAD experience
- Proven track record of producing clean, professional drawings across mixed engineering projects
- Prior experience with solar PV plant drawings (any discipline) is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with IS codes and drawing standards for at least one technical discipline
- Candidates with experience in all three disciplines will be given strong preference
Required Skills
- AutoCAD 2018 or above proficiency mandatory
- Understanding of drawing standards (layers, line types, scales)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches and specifications
- Basic knowledge of solar plant components and layouts
- Accurate and fast drafting with attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- Experience with solar drawings preferred
