About the role
As a Senior Compliance Analyst, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Huru's financial ecosystem by ensuring the highest standards of AML/CFT compliance and financial crime prevention. You will lead the investigation and resolution of AML alerts, conduct enhanced due diligence, support regulatory reporting, and strengthen Huru's compliance framework across customer onboarding, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and ongoing monitoring activities.
Working closely with Compliance, Operations, Product, Technology, and Customer Experience teams, you'll help build scalable compliance processes, improve operational efficiency, and ensure Huru continues to meet the regulatory expectations of the Central Bank of the UAE while protecting our customers and business from financial crime.
What will you do?
AML & Financial Crime Operations
- Investigate and resolve alerts generated through Customer Screening, Transaction Screening, and Transaction Monitoring systems.
- Perform sanctions screening against global watchlists, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), adverse media, and other regulatory databases.
- Assess potential matches and accurately determine True Matches or False Positives with clear documentation.
- Investigate suspicious customer activity by analysing transaction patterns, customer profiles, and counterparty relationships.
- Escalate suspicious activities in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Customer Due Diligence & Enhanced Due Diligence
- Conduct Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and ongoing customer reviews.
- Review customer profiles, source of funds, source of wealth, and business activities for higher-risk customers.
- Ensure customer information, documentation, and risk ratings remain accurate and up to date.
- Support onboarding and periodic review activities while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) for review and regulatory submission.
- Maintain accurate records of investigations, customer reviews, and compliance decisions.
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance reports, dashboards, and Management Information System (MIS) reporting.
- Stay informed of changes to UAE AML/CFT regulations, sanctions requirements, and industry best practices.
Operational Excellence
- Identify opportunities to improve AML operations, investigation quality, and case handling efficiency.
- Work closely with Product and Technology teams to enhance compliance systems and workflows.
- Contribute to policy updates, risk assessments, and compliance improvement initiatives.
- Support the delivery of AML awareness and compliance training across the organisation.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Product, Technology, Customer Experience, and Risk teams to resolve complex compliance matters.
- Provide guidance on AML and regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders.
- Promote a strong compliance culture by encouraging proactive risk identification and mitigation.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or an equivalent AML/Compliance certification is highly desirable.
- 3–5 years of experience in AML Operations, Compliance, KYC, Financial Crime, or Risk within a fintech, bank, payments company, or regulated financial institution.
- Strong understanding of UAE AML/CFT regulations, CBUAE requirements, FATF recommendations, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and customer due diligence.
- Experience investigating AML alerts, sanctions hits, transaction monitoring cases, and suspicious activities.
- Experience preparing STRs/SARs and supporting regulatory audits and compliance reviews.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial transactions and identify potential financial crime risks.
- Experience using AML case management, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, or KYC platforms.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear investigation summaries and regulatory reports.
