About UMEED
UMEED dismantles barriers to female self-reliance by addressing the individual, family, and institutional ecosystem through integrated programs like FirstLeap Career readiness & Empowerment Program, Break-the-Barrier Program, and Sahyog Train-the Trainer Program. We empower women with agency while transforming parental mindsets and educator capacity to turn traditional ‘gatekeeping’ into a launchpad for lifelong personal, social, and financial independence. Through these programs, UMEED actively advances SDGs 1, 5, and 8. By means of our 3-bucket focus on skill building, mindset development and access to exposure, we aim to build the spirit of Voice, Choice and Agency’ in women who will not only be empowered to take charge of their own lives, but will also become proactive catalysts of a sustainable continuation of these values to their communities.
About the Role
The Senior Communications Manager is a strategic leader and a fierce advocate for gender equality. You possess a
sophisticated understanding of how narrative-building can dismantle systemic barriers and drive organizational growth. With a
"can-do" attitude and a vision for high-impact storytelling, you will serve as the primary architect of UMEED's brand voice,
building influential relationships with national media and sectoral leaders to amplify our mission
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and lead the overarching communications and brand strategy to position UMEED as a thought leader in the
gender and livelihood space.
- Oversee the end-to-end creation of high-stakes collaterals, ensuring all brand touchpoints align with UMEED’s mission of
building 'Voice, Choice, and Agency'.
- Direct multi-channel storytelling campaigns across digital and traditional media to influence stakeholder behavior and
public perception.
- Produce high-level impact reports and strategic marketing tools that articulate program progress to donors and
institutional partners.
- Analyze complex media performance metrics and audience data to drive data-informed shifts in communication tactics.
- Establish and manage high-level strategic partnerships with national media houses, influencers, and partner organizations.
- Lead the digitization and standardization of UMEED’s internal and external documentation and reporting systems.
- Manage communication budgets and resource allocation while mentoring junior team members to ensure operational
excellence.
You’ll be a good fit if you
- Possess a deep understanding of gender inequality and a passion for dismantling systemic barriers within Indian
communities.
- Bring at least 3 years of experience in the social sector or skilling landscape, with a proven track record of managing high-
level brand narratives.
- Have a demonstrated ability to architect and deliver multi-platform media strategies
- Stay ahead of the curve on digital trends, with a strategic approach to leveraging social media for advocacy
- Are proficient in, or can strategically lead the use of, design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and Canva to
maintain high brand standards.
- Hold a Master’s degree in Communications, Branding, Social Work, Management, or Women’s Studies.
- Are a natural problem-solver who can operate with high levels of autonomy and lead a team toward ambitious
communication goals.
