Job Summary:**
ALS Testing Services India Private Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to lead and execute complex chemical analyses, develop and validate new methods, and provide expert technical guidance within our laboratory. This role requires a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, hands-on experience with various instrumental techniques, and a proven track record in a commercial testing environment.
Job Responsibilities:**
- Perform a wide range of chemical analyses on diverse sample matrices (e.g., environmental, food, materials) using advanced instrumental techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, FTIR, UV-Vis, and classical wet chemistry methods.
- Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods according to international standards (e.g., ISO 17025, EPA, ASTM) and client requirements.
- Interpret complex analytical data, identify anomalies, troubleshoot instrumentation issues, and ensure data integrity and quality.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, Certificates of Analysis, and provide expert opinions on analytical findings.
- Lead and mentor junior chemists and laboratory technicians, providing training and technical support.
- Manage projects, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring timely delivery of results.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Stay abreast of new analytical technologies and industry best practices, proposing improvements to laboratory operations.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, sales teams, and other internal departments.
Job Qualifications:**
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in an analytical laboratory, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role within a commercial testing environment (e.g., environmental, food, pharmaceutical, materials testing).
- Demonstrated expertise in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of analytical instruments, particularly GC-MS, LC-MS, and ICP-OES/ICP-MS.
- Proven experience in analytical method development and validation, including understanding of detection limits, quantification limits, linearity, accuracy, and precision.
- Thorough knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025) and relevant regulatory standards.
- Strong data interpretation and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and communicate complex information effectively.
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
