guiding principle
To serve as the primary interpreter and translator between the business needs and the data development teams, ensuring that data solutions are aligned with strategic objectives and deliver measurable business value.
job context & purpose
This role is the key liaison between the business and the Global Data Operations Teams. The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding complex business requirements, partnering with cross-functional teams, and providing actionable business solutions through data. The focus is on identifying the necessary data and optimising its presentation, effectively bridging the gap between stakeholders and developers. This position has operational and technical responsibility for requirements gathering and documentation.
responsibilities
- Stakeholder Alignment & Requirement Translation: Create relationships with business stakeholders to deeply understand their analytical needs and strategic objectives. Effectively translate complex business requirements into prioritised technical specifications that guide both interim report creation and the final data product development by the Global Data Operations team. Capture requirements as user stories and acceptance criteria in the product backlog, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.
- Data Solution Prototyping & Strategy: Discover and trial innovative analytical solutions and data models to meet strategic business needs. Use these successful prototypes to define and document the precise technical specifications that will be scaled into high-impact data products by the Global Data Operations/Development team.
- Source Data Acquisition & Field Specification: Own the integrity of the data input by either creating the initial source reports directly or by working with third-party providers to specify and secure all required data fields. This ensures the data model has the necessary components to support internal needs and custom client requirements, and subsequent analytical trialling.
- Domain Expertise & System Leverage: Maintain a deep functional and technical understanding of systems e.g. Vendor Management Systems (VMS) and/or Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Strategically leverage data from these systems to inform, build, and enhance analytical data models and custom client dashboards.
- Validation & Compliance: Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure final products meet requirements. Review and ensure adherence to all contractual conditions around reporting, financial elements, SLAs, and KPIs.
- Process Improvement & Support: Drive continuous process improvement and leverage an agile work environment to incorporate innovative and value-added components. Act as a subject matter expert on business processes and data to assess operational realities and validate solution requirements.
- Ad-Hoc Requests: Respond to ad-hoc reporting and new requests via ServiceNow/Jira/FreshService.
- Solution Ownership: Act as the solution owner for all tactical and interim reporting artifacts, ensuring accuracy and business continuity until the full development lifecycle is complete and the solution is released as a formal data [product].
