As the Senior battery intelligence engineer, you will wwn the end-to-end strategy, development, and deployment of battery intelligence algorithms and analytics platform capabilities that improve safety, extend battery lifetime across Zenfinity Energy’s mobility and energy storage products.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the technical roadmap for battery analytics: SoC/SoH/SoP estimation, degradation and safety analytics, fleet health dashboards, predictive maintenance, and warranty analytics.
•Design, implement, and scale models and services for large fleet and storage portfolios.
•Architect and review ML and physics-informed models for battery state and life prediction, anomaly and fault detection, and optimal charging/operation strategies.
•Oversee data architecture and pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, and processing high-frequency battery telemetry.
•Mentor and grow the analytics/ML/software team, set engineering and research standards, and drive strategy for the battery intelligence function.
Required Technical Skills
Candidates must demonstrate depth in the following three pillars:
•Battery Systems & Electrochemistry: Deep understanding of Li-ion degradation, aging mechanisms, thermal behavior, cycle life, and cell/pack performance.
• Time-Series ML & Data Science: Expert-level Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn; PyTorch or TensorFlow for deep learning/time-series models such as LSTM/GRU/transformers).
◦Anomaly detection, survival/RUL modeling, signal processing, and feature engineering for large telemetry datasets.
◦ End-to-end ML pipeline experience: preprocessing, training, validation, benchmarking, and production deployment.
•Cloud & Platform Engineering: Experience with AWS/GCP/Azure, scalable time-series storage, and CI/CD for analytics services.
Education & Background
•Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Power/Energy Systems, Control Systems, or a closely related field +3 years of progressive experience
•Exceptional B.Tech/B.E. candidates with 5+ years of progressive experience and a strong portfolio are also considered.
◦ Prior experience at an EV OEM, grid-scale storage operator, battery manufacturer, or battery-analytics.
Location: IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, TN
