LudoNaira is Africa's fastest-growing real-time gaming platform, serving millions of active users Monthly. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale the systems that power our real-time gameplay, payments, and live user interactions.
In this role, you'll work closely with the co-founders and the leadership team to shape the platform's technical vision and core infrastructure.
This is a role for seasoned engineers who have built and maintained production systems at scale.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience
- Deep understanding of Node.js internals (JavaScript or TypeScript)
- Strong experience with AWS (DynamoDB, EC2, SQS, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.)
- Experience with WebSockets and real-time communication systems
- Ability to think through complex edge cases before they happen
- Strong engineering standards and the ability to collaborate with leadership
Nice to Have
- Experience with real-money gaming, betting systems, or payment workflows
- Strong knowledge of backend security, rate limiting, job queues, and scalability
- Experience building backend systems or architectures from scratch
- Familiarity with distributed or event-driven systems
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain backend services for real-time gaming and transactions.
- Build scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Implement reliable queueing, job management, and monitoring
- Optimise performance, reduce latency, and improve fault tolerance
- Handle production debugging, uptime, and incident response
- Collaborate with frontend, mobile, design, and product teams
- Contribute to long-term backend strategy, documentation, and best practices
