Project Overview: High-concurrency, low-latency multiplayer game backend. Cross-platform infrastructure demanding real-time synchronization and robust persistence.
Core Mandate: Define the distributed architecture strategy. You are responsible for ensuring independent scalability across diverse compute layers while protecting core databases under extreme load.
Key Responsibilities:
Distributed Systems: Design and tune decoupled compute layers to seamlessly handle stateless HTTP APIs, stateful WebSockets, and UDP gameplay.
Real-Time Connectivity: Manage persistent, long-lived connections to drive low-latency features like live matchmaking, presence tracking, and social interactions.
Asynchronous Pipelines: Architect scalable, event-driven queueing models to act as shock absorbers for massive end-of-match write spikes before database insertion.
Infrastructure Orchestration: Handle the secure integration and token handoffs for edge- deployed dedicated game servers, alongside managing high-speed, isolated caching clusters.
Requirements:
Backend Specialist: Proven track record of developing high-throughput microservices using performance-oriented languages (like Golang).
Data Protection: Deep understanding of connection pooling and multiplexing strategies to protect relational databases from connection exhaustion during high concurrency events. Architectural Agility: Ability to evaluate technical blueprints and adapt compute workloads
based on real-world needs (e.g., dynamically migrating core matchmaking logic to
asynchronous workers as complexity grows).
Cloud Integration: Comfortable deploying standard application compute on managed container services and utilizing distributed tracing for infrastructure observability.
Minimum 5 years experience: At least one shipped multiplayer title with a heavy emphasis on real-time state management and distributed services architecture.
