Senior Software Engineer
Full-Time | Experience: 4-8 Years | Location: Bangalore
About the Role:
1WRK by ANSR is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and build core parts of our platform. You'll work primarily in Python, think AI-first about how you build software, and take real ownership of the modules you design — from system design through to a secure, scalable, cost-efficient deployment on AWS.
What You'll Do:
- Feature & module ownership: Design, build, and own delivery of features and backend modules end-to-end, from technical design through deployment and monitoring.
- AI-first delivery: Use AI tools and agents to speed up your own development workflow, and look for opportunities to bring AI/LLM capabilities into the product.
- System design participation: Contribute to system design discussions for your area, reasoning clearly about scaling, reliability, and cost trade-offs.
- Secure, quality code: Write secure, well-tested, well-documented code, following secure SDLC practices and participating actively in code reviews.
- Data & events: Work confidently with relational/NoSQL databases and event-driven components (queues, pub/sub, streaming) as part of the systems you build.
- AWS deployment: Get your services deployed and running reliably on AWS, using standard CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers through code review and pairing, and raise the bar for engineering quality on your team.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and other engineers to turn requirements into well-scoped, buildable technical plans.
What We're Looking For:
- 4-8 years of backend/software engineering experience, with a track record of independently owning and shipping production features or services.
- AI-first engineering mindset: Comfortable using AI tools and agents day-to-day to speed up coding, testing, and documentation, and curious about where AI/LLM capabilities can be embedded into the product.
- Backend engineering, Python-first: Solid backend engineering skills in any modern stack, with hands-on experience and a willingness to work primarily in Python frameworks (e.g., Django, FastAPI, Flask).
- Data structures & algorithms: Strong command of data structures and algorithms, and the ability to reason about time/space complexity when designing a solution.
- System design: Working understanding of system design fundamentals — able to design a well-structured service or module and reason about its scaling limits, with guidance on the hardest trade-offs.
- Secure SDLC: Understanding of secure software development lifecycle practices — secure coding, dependency scanning, and building security checks into your normal development workflow.
- Advanced analytical & out-of-the-box thinking: Strong analytical and debugging skills, with a track record of proposing creative solutions rather than just the first workable one.
- Databases: Fair understanding of relational and NoSQL databases — schema design, indexing, and writing efficient queries.
- Event-driven systems: Exposure to event-driven architectures — queues, pub/sub, or streaming systems — and an understanding of the challenges they introduce.
- Scale & cost optimization: An instinct for writing code and designing modules that are efficient, mindful of cost, and built to scale rather than just to pass a demo.
- AWS deployment: Hands-on experience deploying and running services on AWS (e.g., EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS/DynamoDB) and comfort with standard CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals — clean, testable, well-documented code, and disciplined use of version control and code review.
- A genuine ownership mindset — you see problems through to resolution, in production, not just to a passing test.
- Debugging and observability instincts — comfortable using logs, metrics, and tracing to root-cause issues under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to document decisions clearly and explain trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- A learning mindset — you pick up new tools, frameworks, and AI capabilities quickly and share what you learn.
- Collaboration across functions — comfortable working closely with product, design, and other engineering teams.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in SaaS, HR-tech, or global workforce/EOR platforms.
- Exposure to building or consuming LLM-based features.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD pipeline design.
- Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
