Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Security Engineer with proven experience managing and securing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. This critical role will establish cloud security standards, safeguard sensitive data, and support secure adoption of advanced Azure services including Azure AI, Cognitive Search, Document Intelligence, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), as well as core O365 workloads (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive). The ideal candidate will be instrumental in building robust security frameworks that protect our organization's cloud infrastructure and data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Policy & Governance: Define and enforce Azure and O365 security policies, standards, and guardrails aligned to industry frameworks and best practices
- Security Services Management: Manage and optimize core security services including Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Key Vault, Azure Policy, Azure Firewall, RBAC, and Microsoft 365 Defender suite
- Advanced Azure Services Security:
- Azure AI protecting machine learning models, data pipelines, and APIs
- Azure Cognitive Search & Document Intelligence – safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring compliance
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) – implementing container security, network policies, identity management, and runtime protection
- Microsoft 365 Security: Implement and maintain O365 security controls including Exchange Online Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), sensitivity labels, multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and insider risk management
- DevSecOps Integration: Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to embed security controls in CI/CD pipelines and O365 integrations
- Threat Management: Monitor, detect, and respond to security threats across Azure and O365 environments using advanced security tools and methodologies
- Automation & Compliance: Automate governance and compliance checks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, and other infrastructure-as-code tools
- Incident Response: Lead security incident response activities and implement remediation strategies in cloud environments
- Security Architecture: Design and implement secure cloud architectures that meet business requirements while maintaining strong security posture
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience managing security in cloud environments, with at least 3+ years focused specifically on Microsoft Azure and O365
- Identity & Access Management: Deep expertise in Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), conditional access policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and privileged identity management (PIM)
- Advanced Azure Security: Demonstrated experience securing advanced Azure workloads including Azure AI services, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), or other complex cloud architectures
- Microsoft 365 Security: Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security controls including the Defender suite, Data Loss Prevention, sensitivity labels, and identity protection mechanisms
- Incident Response: Proven background in security incident response and remediation within cloud environments
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, and other automation tools
- Security Frameworks: Understanding of industry security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and cloud security best practices
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
