Role Description The Senior AWS Data Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mohali district. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and data platforms on AWS to support analytics, reporting, and data-driven applications. The Senior AWS Data Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect requirements, model data, and optimize data flows for performance, reliability, and security. Daily responsibilities include managing data ingestion from various sources, implementing data quality checks, monitoring data infrastructure, and troubleshooting issues in production environments. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, contributing to best practices, and supporting continuous improvement of data engineering processes.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, Kinesis) and experience designing cloud-native data architectures.
- Proficiency in data engineering fundamentals, including ETL/ELT pipeline development, data modeling, and handling structured and semi-structured data.
- Advanced programming skills in languages commonly used for data engineering (such as Python, Scala, or Java) and experience with SQL for complex queries and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with big data and analytics technologies (for example, Spark, Hadoop, or similar frameworks) and familiarity with BI or reporting tools.
- Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance best practices, including role-based access, encryption, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience working in Agile or similar collaborative development environments, with strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, and work effectively with stakeholders across business and technology functions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience as a Senior Data Engineer or comparable role, preferably in cloud-centric or consulting environments.
