Position Title: Senior Associate – Lead, Internships
Department / School: BITS Law School – Kalyan, Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Maharashtra
Profile Summary:
The Senior Associate – Lead, Internships is responsible for leading and operationalizing the internship programme at BITS Law School, Mumbai. This role drives end-to-end ownership of internship strategy, industry engagement, student career development, and programme performance. The incumbent will serve as the primary liaison between the school and the legal industry, ensuring that students gain high-quality, practice-ready experience while building a robust recruiter network aligned with the school’s reputation for academic excellence.

Key Responsibility:
1. Strategy & Program Development:
- Devise and implement the annual internship strategy aligned with the school’s academic and placement goals
- Identify and establish internship goals, targets, and timelines each academic year
- Formulate workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for end-to-end internship processes
- Devise key performance metrics to monitor program effectiveness and report outcomes to senior leadership
2. Recruiter Outreach & Engagement:
- Identify, build, and maintain relationships with international organizations, law firms, corporate legal teams, judiciary bodies, NGOs, and policy organizations as internship hosts
- Conduct outreach campaigns to onboard new recruiters and retain existing partners
- Negotiate internship agreements, stipend structures, and role definitions with employer partners
- Facilitate recruiter presentations, campus visits, and information sessions for students
3. Student Outreach & Counselling:
- Counsel students on internship opportunities, career pathways, application strategies, and professional conduct expectations
- Guide students through the internship application lifecycle, including document preparation, interview readiness, and onboarding
- Address and resolve student concerns related to internship placements, workplace issues, and post-internship evaluations
- Maintain updated records of student internship history, feedback, and performance outcomes
4. Student Training & Skill Development:
- Design and deliver pre-internship training modules covering professional skills, legal drafting, research techniques, and workplace etiquette
- Collaborate with faculty and industry professionals to conduct workshops, mock interviews, and networking events
- Evaluate training effectiveness and update curriculum based on industry feedback and student outcomes
5. Performance Metrics & Reporting:
- Define, track, and report KPIs such as internship conversion rates, recruiter satisfaction scores, and student placement statistics
- Prepare periodic reports and presentations for the Dean and senior leadership on program performance
- Benchmark internship outcomes against peer law schools and recommend program improvements
Experience:
- 3–5 years in career counselling, legal recruitment, law school placement, or related field
Qualification:
- Essential: LL.B. (Graduate in Law) from a recognized university
- Preferred: Master’s Degree (Preferably in Law)

- Experience with placement management tools preferred
