About the RoleWe are building a next-generation lightweight AR smart glasses product focused on AI-powered text rendering and real-time subtitle experiences.
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Android Developer to lead the development of the companion Android application and manage integration with hardware SDKs provided by ODM partners.
This is a high-impact role working at the intersection of mobile software, BLE communication, AI APIs, and wearable hardware.
What You’ll Be Building- Android companion app for smart glasses
- BLE connection layer with AR hardware
- Real-time AI → text → overlay pipeline
- Display formatting engine optimized for small near-eye displays
- Hardware abstraction layer for SDK integration
- Debug, logging, and hardware fault handling systems
Key Responsibilities- Design and build the Android application architecture from scratch
- Integrate and manage BLE communication with smart glasses
- Work with ODM-provided SDKs and hardware documentation
- Build mock hardware layers for early development
- Optimize latency for real-time subtitle rendering
- Implement robust connection handling and retry logic
- Collaborate with firmware engineers and hardware partners
- Structure code for future iOS and backend expansion
Required Skills- 5+ years of Android development experience
- Strong Kotlin expertise
- Experience with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) integration
- Experience working with hardware SDKs or IoT devices
- Understanding of async programming and concurrency
- Experience building modular, scalable app architectures
- Familiarity with REST APIs and AI API integration
- Strong debugging skills
Nice to Have- Experience with AR, wearable devices, or smart glasses
- Experience with near-eye display constraints
- Knowledge of firmware communication protocols
- Experience building companion apps for hardware products
- Startup experience
