We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Analytics Engineer with strong expertise in dbt, SQL, analytics data modeling, and analytics engineering workflows.
This role focuses heavily on building scalable analytics-ready datasets, designing maintainable data models, and supporting reliable reporting and business intelligence systems.
This is not a traditional backend application development role.
About the Role
As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will own the design, development, and evolution of analytics-ready data foundations that power reporting, decision-making, experimentation, and operational insights across the organization.
This is a senior-level, high-ownership role requiring strong technical expertise, problem-solving capability, and the ability to independently design scalable analytics solutions while collaborating with analytics, engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Candidates with strong hands-on DBT and analytics data modeling experience will be prioritized.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics Engineering & Data Modeling
- Design, build, and maintain scalable analytics-ready data models using dbt
- Develop modular, reusable, and maintainable SQL transformations
- Design scalable schemas, relationships, and analytics-friendly datasets
- Handle complex joins, table grain considerations, and dimensional modeling requirements
- Build analytics models with a strong focus on maintainability, scalability, and documentation
Data Pipelines & Transformation Workflows
- Build, maintain, and optimize analytics data pipelines and transformation workflows
- Understand upstream/downstream data dependencies and ensure reliable data flow across analytics systems
- Troubleshoot pipeline failures, schema issues, and data quality concerns in production environments
- Work closely with engineering and analytics teams to improve the reliability and performance of data workflows
Engineering Excellence
- Write clean, readable, testable, and production-grade analytics code
- Implement data quality checks, testing, freshness monitoring, and documentation
- Design reusable analytics engineering patterns and standards
- Continuously improve existing models, workflows, and analytics processes
Problem Solving & Ownership
- Independently solve ambiguous or complex analytics/data problems
- Analyze technical tradeoffs and downstream impacts of modeling decisions
- Take ownership of requirement understanding through implementation and rollout
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Mandatory Skills
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or related data-focused roles
- Strong hands-on expertise with dbt (models, tests, documentation, macros)
- Advanced SQL skills with experience working in analytical databases such as Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of analytics engineering and dimensional data modeling concepts
- Good understanding of table grain, schema design, joins, and data relationships
- Strong experience working with analytics pipelines and transformation workflows
- Experience supporting BI/reporting workflows
- Familiarity with Git, version control, and production data environments
- Strong debugging, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Looker or modern BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Mode, etc.
- Exposure to orchestration/workflow tools such as Airflow or similar platforms
- Experience designing scalable semantic layers or metrics models
- Exposure to data governance, lineage, or observability tooling
Senior-Level Expectations
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Strong ownership mindset and accountability
- Ability to proactively identify gaps and drive improvements
- Comfortable handling production-level analytics and data challenges
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capability
- Ability to influence technical direction and best practices
