Senior Analytics Engineer (Indian - Remote)
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join a growing data team and help build the foundation for trusted, scalable analytics. In this role, you will transform raw data into clean, reliable, and well-documented data models that power executive reporting, self-service analytics, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
You will work closely with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Product, and Data Science teams to design high-quality transformation pipelines, implement best practices for data modeling, and ensure the delivery of governed, analytics-ready datasets.
This is a hands-on technical role suited for someone who enjoys building modern data platforms and takes ownership of data quality, performance, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Modeling & Transformation
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data transformation pipelines using dbt.
- Develop modular, reusable, and well-tested data models following Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) and Dimensional Modeling (Kimball) best practices.
- Create analytics-ready data marts that serve as trusted sources for business reporting.
- Optimize warehouse performance using incremental models, clustering, partitioning, and efficient materialization strategies.
- Develop reusable macros, packages, and modeling standards to improve consistency and maintainability.
Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Design and maintain semantic and metrics layers that provide consistent business definitions across reporting.
- Partner with BI developers and analysts to deliver trusted datasets for Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Create and maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and lineage to improve data discoverability and governance.
- Build reusable analytics models across domains such as Finance, Sales, and Operations.
Data Quality & Governance
- Implement automated testing using dbt tests and custom validation frameworks.
- Develop data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and freshness checks.
- Enforce data contracts and support schema evolution across data pipelines.
- Ensure high standards for data reliability and governance.
AI & Machine Learning Enablement
- Build clean, feature-ready datasets that support Data Science and Machine Learning initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to operationalize AI and analytics use cases on modern cloud platforms.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor junior engineers on SQL optimization, dbt best practices, and analytics engineering principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Data Analytics.
- Strong hands-on experience with dbt (Core or Cloud).
- Expert-level SQL skills.
- Strong Python programming experience.
- Experience working with Snowflake or Databricks.
- Deep understanding of Dimensional Modeling (Kimball) and Medallion Architecture.
- Experience building production-grade ELT pipelines and analytics-ready data models.
- Experience supporting BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Strong understanding of semantic layers, metrics governance, and data modeling best practices.
- Experience implementing automated data validation and testing.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building analytics models for Finance, Sales, or Operations.
- Experience with data observability and data quality tools.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms or feature engineering workflows.
- Experience working in AWS-based cloud environments.
- Relevant certifications such as:
- dbt Analytics Engineering Certification
- SnowPro Core Certification
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer
- AWS Certified Data Engineer
