Job Description
- Support Americas’s Indirect Tax Team audit defense by gathering, analyzing and reconciling large sets of data; assist with other audit support documentation
- Ownership and main point of contact for escalated sales tax refunds related to taxability issues and buyer exemptions; work closely with Global Customer Service and Buyer Exemption Teams
- Review category mappings and support AI learning for enhanced taxability
- Assist America’s Indirect Tax Team with other special projects or miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Perform ad-hoc tax technical research
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Product and Engineering, Finance, Shared Services, and the broader Tax Team
Requirements
- Experience with U.S. sales & use taxes is required; understanding of marketplace facilitator legislation preferred
- Experience with US indirect tax compliance and sales tax audits
- Experience interacting with US state and local tax authorities
- Familiarity with Canada, Mexico, and other global VAT regimes a plus
- Capable of supporting indirect tax projects with cross-functional dependencies
- Demonstrated passion and proven track record of delivering results in a fast-placed, rapidly changing business environment
- Strong attention to detail, problem resolution and mitigation skills
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner both written and verbally
- Proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Office, and tax research tools required
- Experience with SharePoint, Tableau, Alteryx and other data wrangling tools preferred
- Experience and working knowledge of Vertex O-Series preferred
- Experience with SAP/S4HANA preferred
Basic Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related indirect tax experience. Big 4 experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with emphasis in Finance, Information Systems, or Accounting. Advanced degree a plus
- CMI or CPA a plus
- Fluent in English – other languages helpful
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule in an eBay office required
