Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI / ML Developer to join a small, high-velocity engineering team building AI-powered systems at the intersection of content intelligence, computer vision, and large-scale product data. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for an engineer who thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and takes end-to-end ownership — from problem definition through deployment and monitoring.
The successful candidate will design, train, fine-tune, and deploy a broad range of machine learning models — including large language models (LLMs), vision-language models, and classical ML pipelines — across a platform that processes articles, images, and video streams in real time. You will be expected to propose new system architectures when existing approaches are insufficient, and to make principled trade-offs between model quality, inference cost, and serving latency.
This role requires close collaboration with a cross-functional team of engineers, scientists, and business stakeholders. You will interact directly with clients to gather requirements and translate ambiguous product needs into concrete ML deliverables. A startup mindset — comfort with iteration, a bias towards shipping, and genuine curiosity about the problem space — is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement LLM-based systems: text generation, image generation, video understanding, and coding copilot applications.
- Fine-tune LLMs and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to enhance model performance and knowledge.
- Optimise model deployments for cost efficiency using quantization and distillation.
- Prepare and clean diverse datasets for LLM, CV, and NLP training and evaluation.
- Collaborate with senior business leaders on model architecture, deployment strategy, and long-term AI roadmap.
- Interact directly with clients to gather requirements and feedback on system performance.
Technical Requirements
- 5+ years of ML engineering experience with a focus on Computer Vision and agentic systems.
- Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and agentic frameworks (LangGraph).
- Experience with text and vision embedding models, object detection models.
- Strong background in data preprocessing and feature engineering for CV and NLP tasks.
- Hands-on experience training/fine-tuning deep learning models and implementing RAG systems.
- Experience deploying and monitoring ML models on cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
Preferred Background
- Experience with AWS SageMaker or GCP Vertex AI for model training, deployment, and management.
- Proficiency with IaC tools: AWS CDK, Terraform, Pulumi.
- Experience in e-commerce or B2B products, applying LLMs to these domains.
- Knowledge of PEFT, LoRA, model evaluation metrics, and A/B testing for LLMs.
- Experience with 100M+ record multimodal production datasets.
- Familiarity with HuggingFace, WandB, Reinforcement Learning techniques.
