Senior AI Engineer

Split - Focus Area
80% - Existing projects — primarily Computer Vision, initiation-phase work requiring threat anticipation and early problem detection
20% - Research — staying current with new models, papers, and AI developments. Everyone at org does research it’s part of the culture
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AI/CV implementation across up to 5 simultaneous projects, ensuring quality delivery and technical coherence
- Anticipate technical threats and architectural risks at the initiation phase — flag problems before they become blockers
- Design, develop, and deploy Computer Vision systems for large-scale civic infrastructure (millions of end users)
- Mentor and guide a young engineering team (20–25 year olds), fostering growth while maintaining high output
- Conduct ongoing research — evaluate new models, frameworks, and developments integrate relevant findings into active projects
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and CEO on technical roadmap, resource planning, and delivery timelines
- Maintain clear, fast communication across project teams — speed and clarity are critical with 5 concurrent workstreams
- Contribute to our AI Labs culture by bridging research and production implementation
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, with deep expertise in Computer Vision
- Proven track record of shipping production-grade CV systems (object detection, image segmentation, video analytics, or similar)
- Strong research mindset — proactively follows new models, reads papers, and stays current with the AI landscape
- Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers comfortable leading without being hierarchical
- Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously with strong prioritization and communication skills
- Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent)
- Experience with model deployment, optimization, and scaling in production environments
- Character-first: ownership, integrity, and a collaborative working style are non-negotiable
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with B2G or large-scale public infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with edge deployment, embedded CV systems, or IoT integration
- Background in full-stack AI (research + implementation), not just one or the other
- Experience working in startup or labs-style environments with high autonomy
- Publications or meaningful contributions to the AI/CV research community

Interview Process
Round - Format - Details
1 Intro Call (~30 min) - Culture and character fit. Candidate asks about our org, projects, and the team. Strong candidates may receive an offer after this round.
2 Technical (~1 hr + task) - Led by senior engineers. Technical questions followed by a hackathon-style take-home task (target: 2–3 hours). Designed to respect candidates’ time.
3 Offer Letter - Official offer with responsibilities outlined. Includes a 3-month probationary period with performance review clause for standout candidates.
