Incerro is an AI consulting and product development company building agentic AI systems for clients across the US, Canada, Europe and the Gulf. Alongside client work, we build our own products in AI governance and evaluation. We work in a spec-driven, AI-orchestrated model where the quality of your thinking matters more than your typing speed. We are not a body-shop. We build systems that are genuinely hard to build.
The Role
A Senior AI Engineer who can own architecture decisions, not just implement them - someone who has shipped production LLM systems, understands the cost/performance trade-offs of different design choices, and can bring engineering discipline (spec-driven development, structured reviews) to a fast-moving startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Take complex client briefs and define structured specs before development begins
- Architect and build agentic AI systems end to end - RAG pipelines, multi-agent orchestration, MCP-based integrations, and tool-use workflows
- Make and defend architecture decisions on model selection, retrieval strategy, memory design, and orchestration framework (LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, AutoGen)
- Own cost and performance: token usage, latency, and inference cost trade-offs across LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI, Bedrock)
- Set up observability and evaluation systems (Langfuse, LangSmith, Helicone, Arize, W&B) and define what "good" looks like for agent evaluation
- Contribute to Incerro's own AI governance and evaluation products alongside client work
- Work directly with the founder on solution design, technical decisions and delivery
- Review junior developers' work and catch shallow planning early
- Engage in client conversations when needed and communicate technical decisions with confidence
- Define and evolve the spec-driven development process the team builds on over time
Who We Are Looking For
2-3 years of experience, ideally from a product company, technical consultancy or an agency with real client exposure. You have shipped agentic AI work in production, not just prototypes - RAG pipelines, vector databases (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Weaviate, Qdrant, Milvus), and agentic/multi-agent systems with real tool use and memory management. You have strong backend engineering skills (APIs, microservices, async systems, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD).
You use Claude Code or Cursor as a genuine part of your workflow. You have written specs and requirements documents, made architectural decisions and stood behind them. You have worked directly with a client or leadership, not just a ticket queue. You ask hard questions before you start and document decisions as you go.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage people within the year. It is a senior individual contributor role with real ownership.
