+8 A Senior Accountant oversees day-to-day financial operations, maintains the general ledger, and ensures financial statements are accurate and compliant. They lead month- and year-end closing processes, prepare variance analyses, support internal and external audits, and often guide junior accounting staff.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Analyze budget-to-actual results and produce variance reports to advise management on financial performance.General Ledger & Reconciliation: Manage and reconcile complex balance sheets, bank accounts, and sub-ledger accounts. Ensure all journal entries are accurately posted.Compliance & Audits: Ensure accounting practices strictly adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or local regulatory standards. Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.Process Improvement: Develop, document, and implement internal financial controls and streamline accounting procedures to improve efficiency.Team Leadership: Mentor, train, and review the work of junior accounting staff, bookkeepers, and accounting clerks.Typical RequirementsEducation & Experience: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with 3 to 5 years of professional accounting experience.Certifications: A professional certification like a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is highly preferred and often required for upper-tier roles.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and deep familiarity with mainstream accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite, SAP, FreshBooks).Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
