The Senior Accountant will maintain financial records in QuickBooks Online (QBO), oversee AP/AR and expense processes through Ramp, prepare monthly financial statements, and play a key role in building scalable finance processes and internal controls as the company grows. The ideal candidate has a strong command of GAAP, debits and credits, and financial statement preparation, is highly proficient in Excel and cloud-based financial systems, and is comfortable operating in a fast-changing, high-growth environment with shifting priorities and increasing complexity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) across multiple entities for management review.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure transactions are recorded and coded in accordance with GAAP and the company's chart of accounts.
- Review and analyze account reconciliations prepared by bookkeeping staff, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Support budget-to-actual analysis and financial summaries for leadership.
Accounts Payable, Receivable & Banking Oversight
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes for US CPA affiliated firms, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
- Review vendor bill coding, payment runs, and vendor statement reconciliations.
- Review customer invoicing, outstanding balances, and collections activity.
- Perform or review monthly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Prepare and analyze A/P and A/R aging reports, identifying trends and risk areas for management.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Partner with the VP Finance/CFO to design, document, and implement scalable accounting processes and SOPs as the company grows.
- Identify and help implement improvements to internal controls, workflows, and system usage (QBO, Ramp, and related platforms).
- Support system or process transitions as the finance function scales (e.g., new tools, expanded entity structures, automation).
- Assist with payroll processing coordination and expense report review oversight.
Audit, Tax & Compliance Support
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation to support audits, tax preparation, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for external accountants, auditors, or tax preparers as needed.
Communication & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a key point of contact for internal firm representatives and external stakeholders on financial reporting, billing, and accounting matters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance team members and other departments to support efficient financial operations.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on A/P, A/R, and month-end close responsibility.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, debits and credits, and accrual-basis accounting required.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) required; experience with multi-entity QBO environments strongly preferred.
- Strong comfort with cloud-based financial and operational software (e.g., QBO, Ramp, Bill.com, or similar) required.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling) required.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits or tax preparation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy under deadline pressure.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and take on increasing responsibility as a company scales.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience working directly with leadership and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CA or CPA.
Preferred Experience
