Role Overview
This role requires managing end-to-end accounting, month-end close, and statutory compliance for India and South Africa. Ensure financial accuracy, strong controls, and timely reporting while collaborating with global finance teams, auditors, and external partners in a multi-country environment.
Key Responsibilities :
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Maintain accurate books of accounts for India and South Africa.
- Review bookkeeping entries from the Finance Assistant and ensure proper coding/documentation.
- Prepare and post month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, payroll, FX revaluations).
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (AP, AR, advances, deposits, bank, tax accounts).
- Lead the month-end close for assigned countries.
- Prepare monthly financials, management reports, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal timelines and close calendars.
- Prepare cash flow statements and perform cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and support business planning.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Review AP/AR aging, follow up on overdue items, and oversee collections.
- Verify vendor onboarding, contracts, and tax treatment.
- Ensure payment runs are accurate and within control requirements.
Compliance & Statutory Coordination (Controls, Processes & Audits for India and South Africa)
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs and implement key control checks.
- Identify process improvements for multi-country finance operations.
- Prepare audit schedules and manage statutory/internal audit queries.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with Operations, Customer Support, and Sales for documentation, billing, and compliance inputs.
- Support the global finance team on consolidation, reporting, and ad-hoc tasks.
Must-Have Skills & Attributes :
- Strong accounting knowledge (AS / IFRS)
- Strong ownership and ability to manage country-level responsibilities independently
- Excellent month-end and reconciliation skills
- Experience working with auditors and external vendors
- Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving ability
- Proficiency in Excel; Xero experience preferred
- Ability to work across time zones and handle multi-country workflows
Experience & Education :
- 3-7 years of accounting experience; multi-entity or multi-country experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or equivalent
- Professional qualifications preferred: ACCA, CMA, CPA, CA(SA)
- Prior experience handling India or South Africa compliance is a strong advantage
- Experience working with global teams and cloud-based systems is beneficial
- Will manage time-zone overlaps between India and South Africa
