Role Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to manage core accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and statutory requirements. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounting standards, taxation, and financial controls, along with advanced Excel skills and the ability to handle large volumes of financial data efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions in the books of accounts.
- Handle core accounting functions including journal entries, ledger scrutiny, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
- Prepare, review, and maintain books of accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), applicable accounting standards, and internal financial policies.
- Ensure proper accounting classification, documentation, and posting of expenses, revenue, provisions, accruals, and adjustments.
- Perform periodic reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor accounts, customer accounts, and inter-company balances.
- Prepare financial statements, schedules, MIS reports, and management reports as required by the management.
- Handle large volumes of accounting and transactional data with accuracy, consistency, and strong analytical control.
- Ensure compliance with TDS provisions, including deduction, deposit, reconciliation, return filing, and issuance of TDS certificates within prescribed timelines.
- Ensure compliance with GST provisions, including accounting of GST transactions, reconciliation of input tax credit, preparation/review of GST returns, and coordination for statutory filings.
- Monitor statutory compliance related to direct and indirect taxes and support assessments, audits, and notices, if any.
- Assist in finalization of accounts, statutory audit, internal audit, tax audit, and preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Maintain proper accounting records, supporting documents, and audit trails for verification and compliance purposes.
- Coordinate with internal departments, auditors, tax consultants, and other stakeholders for accounting and compliance matters.
- Identify process gaps and support implementation of accounting controls, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, bookkeeping, and financial accounting principles.
- Good understanding of applicable accounting standards and generally accepted accounting practices.
- Sound working knowledge of TDS compliance, GST compliance, and other statutory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / spreadsheets, including handling large datasets, formulas, pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data with strong attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of ledger scrutiny, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and financial controls.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a high-volume transaction environment.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of ERP/accounting software will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance.
- CA Inter / M.Com or equivalent qualification will be preferred.
Experience:
- Relevant experience in accounting, taxation, and financial compliance.
- Prior experience in handling end-to-end accounting and statutory compliance in a medium to large organization will be preferred.
