The Senior Account Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the overall success of project implementation and delivery. They have extensive interaction with clients, vendors and other entities outside Octagon. It requires someone who thrives on challenges, is highly organized, and adept at managing day-to-day activities for key accounts.
The Senior Account Manager generates ideas to enhance existing programs, develop new client strategies, and contributes to new business research, lead generation and proposal development. They lead internal projects and provide guidance to junior team members, while collaborating closely with more senior team members. Project management, innovative thinking and client management skills are essential for this role.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Account Manager position will bring dynamism to client service, embrace questioning as a means to improve processes, and are encouraged to infuse their unique approach into their work. They must possess the ability to handle significant responsibility, work independently with minimal guidance, and make well-informed decisions regarding program and client management. They are well-rounded project managers, skilled in client relationship support, and excel in client communication. Additionally, they understand group dynamics, promoting collaboration, teamwork, efficiency, and accountability.
THE WORK YOU’LL DO
Client Relationship Development:
- Assist with developing any approved strategy into a sustainable and effective platform (e.g. assist with moving strategy into planning and activation stage)
- Provision of guidance to local markets and client; Ensure smart leverage of the sponsorship by Issuers, Merchants and Partners in order to drive monetization efforts
Account and Program Leadership and Delivery:
- Day-to-day account management
- Collaboration across multiple departments and with the client’s integrated agency group
- Development of integrated marketing campaigns and consumer activations/promotions
- Liaison with rights-holders
- Provision of industry knowledge of sports and entertainment industries and properties
- Preparation of strategy, operational briefing and reporting documentation
- Management and delivery of client’s product integration with the property
- Delivery, management and execution of big event activation and/or hospitality programs
- Ensuring client budgets are well managed, tracked, reconciled and invoiced on time
Business Development:
- Acquire expertise in specific vendor and product categories and build on the division’s vendor network and generate ideas to improve existing programs and develop new strategies to win new business
- Recognizes new business leads and consults together with senior staff
Growing Agency Expertise:
- Additional projects as assigned, which may include: assistance on other events and hospitality programs, sponsorship evaluations, competitive reviews, POVs, white papers, property research, etc.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7+ years' experience working in account management, project management or client service with a brand, agency and/or team or sports or entertainment property
- High level Power Point Skills, Excel and Outlook and a confidence to present internally and externally
Skills:
- You are a strategic thinker with a passion for sports and entertainment sponsorship marketing and a great knowledge of the landscape - key properties, governing bodies, talent, competitor activity
- You communicate clearly. You can write well, you speak in an engaging way and can explain your thoughts and ideas succinctly
- You are a real team player and have previous experience of demonstrating strong leadership skills
- Outstanding organization, interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Strong attention to detail; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and produce quality work within deadlines
Ability:
- You have the ability to collaborate across disciplines, departments and client’s additional agency partners
- You think on your feet and use your initiative. You enjoy learning new things and can quickly adapt when things change
- You are patient, level -headed and cool under pressure
Others:
- You have a passion for working with sports & entertainment properties, leagues, teams, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays and non-traditional hours, as required
