Senior Accounts Executive (CA Inter / CMA Inter)
Location: Chennai - Corporate Office
Roles and Responsibilities
Job Purpose: The Senior Accounts Executive – Finance & Accounts is responsible for performing and overseeing accounting operations across group entities, ensuring timely financial closures, accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit management, treasury activities, and implementation of robust internal controls. The role acts as a key contributor to accounting operations while providing guidance and supervision to the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Book Closure
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustment entries.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closure activities.
- Perform and review general ledger reconciliation.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain accuracy of trial balance and supporting schedules.
Accounts Payable Management
- Process & Review vendor invoices for accounting accuracy and compliance.
- Process vendor payments within approved timelines.
- Resolve vendor-related accounting issues.
Accounts Receivable Management
- Manage customer receivables and ageing.
- Coordinate with business teams for collection follow-up.
- Review customer reconciliations.
- Ensure proper accounting of receipts.
Bank & Cash Management
- Prepare and review daily/monthly bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow requirements and support cash flow planning and forecasting activities.
- Ensure proper accounting of bank transactions.
- Support treasury-related activities including coordination with banks as required.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly accounting and management reports.
- Support preparation of standalone/consolidated financial statements.
- Conduct variance analysis and investigate unusual transactions.
- Provide financial information for management decision-making.
- Assist in budget and forecasting preparation.
Statutory & Tax Compliance
Depending on jurisdiction:
- Perform and oversee direct and indirect tax compliance activities.
- Prepare and review schedules and documentation for statutory filings.
- Coordinate with consultants and tax advisors.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory regulations.
Audit Coordination
- Coordinate internal, statutory, tax, and group audits.
- Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting document.
- Respond to audit queries in a timely manner.
- Track and close audit observations and action items.
- Support implementation of audit recommendations.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies.
- Strengthen financial controls and risk management processes.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and automation initiatives.
- Support implementation of best practices in accounting operations.
- Maintain adequate documentation and record retention.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
KPI -- Target
Monthly closing -- Within 7 working days
Bank reconciliation completion -- 100% monthly
Vendor payment accuracy -- >99%
Audit observations -- Minimal recurring issues
Statutory filing compliance -- 100% on time
Balance sheet reconciliations -- 100% monthly
Process improvement initiatives -- Minimum 2 annually
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance
- CA Inter / CMA Inter or equivalent professional qualification
Experience
- 6–9 years of relevant experience in Finance and Accounting.
- Experience in corporate accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience in month-end and year-end financial closures.
- Experience in statutory audits and tax compliance.
- Experience working in ERP-based accounting environments.
