About the Role We're looking for a strong Ontologist with deep semantic (RDF) ontology experience to design and build knowledge models that organize Dell's business information — improving enterprise search, analytics, and AI-driven applications through accurate, well-structured knowledge graphs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build ontologies that structure business information
- Connect data across systems for consistency and clarity
- Model relationships between products, customers, services, and other business data to improve search and AI capabilities
- Work with business teams to convert requirements into structured knowledge models
- Ensure data is organized per industry standards (RDF, OWL, SPARQL)
- Improve enterprise search, analytics, and AI applications through accurate knowledge structures
- Collaborate with developers, data engineers, AI teams, and business stakeholders on knowledge management projects
- Manage and update ontologies as new products, services, and business information are introduced
- Support knowledge graph and metadata initiatives for better data quality and consistency
- Use graph databases and ontology management tools to maintain semantic data models
Requirements
- 8+ years of total experience, with 5+ years in semantic (RDF) ontology building/structuring in a complex organization
- Demonstrated ability to design comprehensive, intuitive semantic ontologies at enterprise scale
- Ability to relate requirements and findings to business needs and outcomes
- Familiarity with W3C standards, including SPARQL and OWL
- Fluent in English, with the ability to work across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- Degree in Computer Science or Library Science, preferably with a minor/certificate in Information Management or Library Automation
- Availability to work US time zone hours for at least 4 hours/day
Good to Have
- Knowledge of ontology/TOMS tools such as PoolParty, TopQuadrant EDG, or GraphDB (Ontotext)
- Experience with graph databases, taxonomies, and NLP strategies for optimization
- Understanding of content development and search/retrieval tools
