Compensation

  • Base Salary: The full salary range for the Accounting & Administrative Associate position is $22.45 to $32.30 per hour, with new hires generally starting between $24.10 to $26.95 per hour, based on relevant knowledge, skills, education, and experience. 
  • Annual Incentive: In addition, all SELCO Insurance Service team members are eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on the completion of 3-4 team and individual goals, set by your supervisor at the beginning of each year. The total incentive received is calculated based on the percentage of the goals you complete.  Incentive amounts can range from 0%-12% of the prior year eligible earnings (with the average payout for the last 3 years being 12%).

Position Overview

Provide support for a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including general ledger maintenance and financial report preparation.

SELCO Core Essential Functions

Position-specific Essential Functions

  1. Perform data entry with a high level of accuracy and regularly audit for missing or inaccurate records.
  2. Maintain accounts payable system; establish and remove vendors, review invoices, obtain payment approval, determine appropriate expense accounts, and process payments.
  3. Prepare reconciliations of the general ledger and assist in maintaining the general ledger reconciliation system and account activity by working with team members to resolve outstanding items. 
  4. Prepare and maintain accounting records supporting general ledger transactions; post general ledger entries, monitor general ledger exceptions, and post and reconcile deposits to general ledger accounts.
  5. Evaluate and process check requests and reimbursement requests.
  6. Compile monthly vendor remittance reports.
  7. Assist with month-end/year-end processes.
  8. Maintain physical inventory for SELCO Group Inc. by evaluating asset purchases and disposals for proper accounting treatment; assigning asset identification tags and performing periodic asset inventories.
  9. Evaluate and reconcile GAP and Extended Warranty remittance reports, evaluate and process refunds, and research and resolve discrepancies/errors.
  10. Compile information to assist auditors and examiners. 
  11. Prepare accounting records and documents for imaging and ensure quality control over imaged documents.
  12. Ensure SELCO team members are registered to sell insurance and affiliated with SELCO Group as necessary and unaffiliated upon termination. Including updating internal systems and state websites.
  13. Enter commissions into the agency management system.
  14. Integrate, review, move, and assign insurance companies’ downloads. 
  15. Sort and distribute department mail.
  16. Provide client service assistance, including making policy changes for clients, updating beneficiary changes, and receiving payments.
  17. Monitor and oversee supply ordering for the department.
  18. Support department meetings and events by assisting with event/meeting coordination and acting as minutes recordkeeper.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; and
  2. At least six (6) months of customer service or office experience; and
  3. Financial institution and/or accounting experience preferred; and
  4. Experience with SELCO’s core banking system, Symitar, and core insurance system, AMS360, preferred; and
  5. Must be bondable.

Physical Demands 

While performing the job duties, approximately 90% of the time is spent stationary, with the remaining time spent moving around work areas. Frequent communication occurs in person, over the phone, and in writing. This position requires the ability to view a computer screen and interpret printed materials and other documents. This position requires the ability to lift and transport up to 5 pounds, and there is an occasional need to stoop, kneel, or reach to access documents, equipment, and supplies.

Interaction and Work Environment

Reports to: SIS Operations & Service Manager and Vice President of Insurance Services
Work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with background noise.
