Role Description The Security Engineer will work on-site in san francisco in a full-time capacity, ensuring the security and resilience of FurlPay’s financial infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls across applications, networks, and cloud environments, as well as monitoring systems for vulnerabilities, threats, and anomalous activity. The role involves performing security assessments and code reviews, collaborating with engineering teams to embed secure-by-design practices, and supporting incident detection, response, and post-incident analysis. The Security Engineer will help define and improve security policies, standards, and procedures, contribute to threat modeling and risk assessments, and assist in security awareness initiatives for internal teams. The position also requires staying current with emerging threats, tools, and best practices in blockchain, fintech, and cloud security.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Cybersecurity and Information Security, including security principles, threat models, and risk management.
- Hands-on experience in Security Engineering and Application Security, such as secure coding practices, code review, and vulnerability remediation.
- Practical knowledge of Network Security, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention, and secure network architecture.
- Experience implementing and operating security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners) in production environments.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), identity and access management, and secrets management.
- Understanding of blockchain or crypto-related security concepts and secure handling of digital assets is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CEH, CISSP, OSCP, CCSK) are beneficial but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, and document security findings and recommendations.
