It should capture only the key responsibilities of the role Responsibilities - Policies, Processes and Procedures - Assist in formulation of instrumentation discipline's plan and ensure day-to-day execution in line with function standards & regulations Implement policies, processes, and procedures covering all areas of instrumentation engineering and maintenance related activities, and ensure adherence to relevant procedural/ legislative requirements while delivering high quality and cost-effective results Provide inputs on maintenance cost and budgeting related to instrumentation equipment Conduct periodic site audits to identify gaps if any, and ensure adherence to new regulations, best practices and LFIs pertaining to instrumentation Support in driving ownership for HSE compliance (RESOP, DOSHE, CASHe, HSEF mandatory trainings) and draft action plans to enable a safe working culture Responsible for maintaining Statutory and regulatory compliance Engineering & Periodic Maintenance Operations - Drive root cause analysis activities and ensure completion of pending RCAs; ensure liquidation of recommendations and approval of MOCs & CAT actions Manage site contracts on a regular basis and ensure standardization and validation of vendor/ contractor relationships for site are maintained Analyse and compare different techniques/ solution available for various analysis requirements in order to adapt efficient technique Participate in factory/ site acceptance tests in order to verify/ validate the agreed functionality of the instrumentation equipment Plan and organise jobs during turnaround/ shutdown services related to instrumentation equipment Provide technical support for major activities, minor projects, plant expansions and modifications pertaining to instrumentation Oversee and manage standardization of spares; monitor critical spares and other consumables to ensure availability as per maintenance/ operational plan Review material/ service purchase requisitions and service entries; inspect the material received at MMC to ensure adherence to material quality guidelines Suggest and drive energy conservation initiatives in order to support environmental sustainability efforts in line with organizational environment strategy Periodic review of Performance monitoring & benchmarking of site instrumentation respective domain Predictive and Preventive Maintenance - Follow established preventive & predictive maintenance policy, perform reliability analysis of all instrumentation engineering equipment Conduct performance monitoring & benchmarking for continuous improvement in reliability systems Ensure optimization of resources at site; provide technical expertise pertaining to instrumentation operations and maintenance to sub-ordinates Track obsolescence to assess current instrumentation systems and equipment and implement suggested renewal plan in order to minimize risk of operating on unsupported equipment Maintain documents for instrumentation equipment maintenance and operations to ensure repository of records for review and audit purposes Reliability Assurance - Participate in inter departmental reliability assurance activities like TRIPOD, Plant interface meetings etc. Monitor and implement the recommendations arising out of various activities Conduct Reliability Centred Maintenance study at the respective sites; ensure reliability & maintainability of instrumentation equipment at site as per industry benchmark/ internally set targets Coordinate with COEs for instrumentation equipment reliability and ensure implementation of recommendations on improvements if any Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for critical reliability issues and provide suggestions on equipment improvement Support in maximizing reliability & availability of instrumentation systems at site through continuous improvement techniques/ up-gradation/ projects or implementation of advance diagnostics Identify asset reliability risks & suggest counter-measures to ensure asset failure prevention Review equipment design specifications (RDEPs), BMP, Guidelines, etc. of respective domain; identify irregularities if any and rectify the same Facilitate Knowledge management and Documentation management People Management - Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions Education Requirement : Necessary: Bachelor's/ Master's in Engineering/ Technology in Electronics/ Instrumentation Desired: Experience Requirement : Necessary: 8+ years of experience in maintenance discipline, with significant experience in refinery and petrochemical processes Desired: Knowledge of best maintenance practices, energy conservation measures and instrumentation equipment Exposure to maintenance practices and predictive diagnostic testing tools Knowledge of codes and standards Knowledge of Reliability tools such as Reliability Centred Maintenance, FMEA, SAP PM/ MM modules Understanding cross functional knowledge Trouble shooting capabilities.
