Job Summary
The Standard India is seeking a
Software Development Engineer in Test IV (SDET IV) to join the AI organization and play a critical role in shaping the quality, reliability, and resilience of AI-powered workflow products across the enterprise.
You will be part of an innovative, cross-functional team responsible for designing quality architectures, test frameworks, and validation strategies that span multiple systems and AI initiatives. As a staff-level individual contributor, you will influence how complex, distributed, and AI-enabled systems are designed, tested, and operated—ensuring quality is built in from the earliest stages of development through production and beyond.
This role goes beyond implementing test automation. You will define standards, patterns, and tooling that enable teams to validate APIs, data pipelines, model behavior, and end-to-end workflows at scale. Partnering closely with Software Engineers, AI / ML Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Architects, and Platform teams, you will anticipate failure modes, reduce systemic risk, and help teams deliver AI solutions that are observable, resilient, and trustworthy in production.
This role requires deep technical judgment, systems-level thinking, and the ability to influence quality outcomes across teams without direct authority. Successful candidates demonstrate strong ownership of complex problem spaces, curiosity in navigating ambiguity, and a passion for raising the quality bar for enterprise AI systems.
- Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.
Mode of Working: This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.
Skills And Background You’ll Need
- EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- EXPERIENCE: 8–10+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, or SDET roles, with demonstrated ownership of quality architecture and test strategy across multiple complex systems.
- Expert-level programming skills in Python (or a comparable language) and experience designing scalable, reusable test frameworks and tooling.
- Deep experience designing test strategies across distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience validating AI- and ML-enabled systems, including model inference behavior, data quality, orchestration logic, and non-deterministic system behavior.
- Experience designing and analyzing performance, load, stress, and resilience testing for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering practices, including how test signals feed into operational health.
- Extensive experience integrating quality engineering into CI/CD pipelines and influencing build, release, and deployment practices (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to SDET II–III engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
- Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to align stakeholders on quality standards and long-term system health.
- Comfort operating autonomously in ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces.
