Job Title: Software Development Engineer III (SDE III)

Bachatt provides a savings and investment platform to specifically target over 30 crore self-employed individuals in India, who find regular mutual funds and investment platforms daunting. often have irregular income streams.

Bachatt is on a mission to bring over 30 crore Indians to invest in mutual funds, and generate wealth beyond the usual instruments of FDs and Post Office schemes. Further, the vision is to empower them to access the full suite of financial products like loans, insurance and credit cards, in a simplified and curated experience, like an offline insurance or mutual fund agent provides them.

The company was founded in November 2024 and raised over $15 million in two rounds of funding, by leading marquee investors of the likes of Lightspeed Venture Partners, Info Edge Ventures and others.

We are looking for an exceptional and highly skilled Software Development Engineer III (SDE III) to join our Engineering team at Bachatt. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling highly reliable and performant systems that power our financial platform handling millions of transactions.

As a senior individual contributor, you will play a critical role in building scalable backend systems, solving complex engineering problems, and setting high technical standards across the team.

This role is about building, scaling, and owning systems that power the future of Bachatt.

Key Responsibilities :

I. System Design & Development :

- Backend Development : Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that power the Bachatt platform.

- Architecture Contribution : Contribute to system architecture decisions ensuring scalability, reliability, and security required for a high-transaction financial platform.

- Code Quality : Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while maintaining high engineering standards.

- Performance & Reliability : Build systems that can handle large transaction volumes while maintaining performance and reliability.

II. Technical Excellence :

Code Reviews :

- Conduct thorough code reviews and maintain high engineering standards across the team.

Debugging & Problem Solving :

- Identify and resolve complex technical issues in production systems.

Engineering Best Practices :

- Follow and promote engineering best practices including testing, monitoring, and documentation.

System Monitoring :

- Work with monitoring and logging tools to ensure system stability and fast incident resolution.

III. Collaboration :

Cross-team Collaboration :

- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality features.

Execution :

- Take ownership of features from design to deployment while balancing speed and maintainability.

Mentorship :

- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers where required.

What You'll Bring (Required Qualifications) :

• Experience :
• - 5-7 years of experience in software development building scalable backend systems.
• Backend Languages :
• - Strong proficiency in Java, good to have Python
• Databases :
• - Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• - Strong SQL proficiency
• - Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) is a plus
• Cloud & Infrastructure :
• - Experience working with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• - Experience with monitoring/logging tools
• Technical Expertise :
• - Strong understanding of backend architecture (microservices, distributed systems, event-driven systems)
• Execution :
• - Proven ability to ship high-quality production systems in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Location :
• - Willingness to be based in the NCR region.

• Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications) :
• - Experience building systems in Fintech, Wealth Management, or high-scale E-commerce platforms
• - Familiarity with Mutual Fund / Investment platforms
• - Experience integrating with financial infrastructure such as BSE Star MF, CAMS, or KFintech
• - Understanding of financial compliance and regulatory requirements (SEBI, RBI)
