About the role

We are looking for a Statistician to join our team at the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). As a Statistician, you will be responsible for providing statistical expertise and analysis to support the development, delivery and quality assurance of our qualifications. This will involve working closely with subject matter experts, assessment teams and data analysts to ensure the validity and reliability of our assessments. Key responsibilities: - Providing statistical advice and analysis to support the development of new qualifications and assessments - Conducting statistical analysis to monitor the performance of existing qualifications and assessments - Evaluating the statistical properties of assessment items and instruments - Contributing to the continuous improvement of our assessment processes and procedures - Presenting findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders - Keeping up to date with developments in assessment and statistical methodologies Requirements: - Degree or postgraduate qualification in statistics, mathematics or a related discipline - Significant experience in the application of statistical methods and techniques - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication and presentation skills - Knowledge of assessment and qualifications processes would be an advantage - Familiarity with relevant statistical software packages
