Reporting To: General Manager / Head – SCM / Director
Location: Chennai Corporate Office (Travel to Branches, Yards & Project Sites as Required)
Industry: Construction Equipment Rental, Heavy Equipment, Infrastructure, EPC, Mining
Experience: 12–18 Years
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Automobile/Industrial Engineering) with MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Materials Management (Preferred).
Role Purpose
The Senior Manager – Supply Chain Management is responsible for leading the organization's procurement, sourcing, inventory management, logistics, warehouse operations, vendor development, and supply chain planning. The role ensures uninterrupted availability of spare parts, tyres, lubricants, consumables, attachments, and capital equipment to support equipment uptime, operational efficiency, and business profitability across all branches, workshops, yards, and project sites.
Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Procurement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead procurement of construction equipment spares, OEM parts, consumables, tyres, lubricants, hydraulic components, electrical parts, and fabrication materials.
- Drive strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize procurement costs.
- Develop annual procurement plans and category-wise sourcing strategies.
- Ensure timely procurement to support equipment availability and fleet uptime.
2. Vendor Development & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers.
- Develop long-term relationships with OEMs, authorized dealers, and strategic vendors.
- Conduct vendor audits and supplier performance evaluations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, service levels, and annual rate contracts.
- Improve supplier quality, delivery performance, and cost competitiveness.
3. Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Monitor inventory across all branches, regional warehouses, and project sites.
- Optimize stock levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Establish reorder levels, safety stock, and inventory control systems.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconciliation.
- Ensure accurate inventory records in ERP systems.
4. Spare Parts Planning
- Forecast spare parts demand based on fleet utilization, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment age, and consumption trends.
- Ensure availability of critical and fast-moving spares.
- Reduce machine downtime caused by spare shortages.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to prioritize urgent requirements.
5. Logistics & Distribution
- Manage transportation of equipment, spare parts, and materials across India.
- Optimize freight costs and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with transporters and logistics partners.
- Monitor shipment tracking and timely delivery.
- Ensure compliance with statutory transportation requirements.
6. Cost Optimization
- Identify opportunities for procurement savings.
- Standardize vendors and materials wherever feasible.
- Lead value engineering initiatives.
- Reduce procurement cycle time and logistics costs.
- Monitor SCM budgets and operating expenses.
7. ERP & SCM Systems
- Ensure effective utilization of ERP for procurement, inventory, and warehouse operations.
- Monitor purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoice matching.
- Generate SCM dashboards and MIS reports.
- Drive automation and digitalization initiatives.
8. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Finance, Projects, Logistics, and Business Development teams.
- Participate in equipment planning and fleet expansion initiatives.
- Resolve procurement and supply chain bottlenecks affecting operations.
9. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure procurement policies and approval matrices are followed.
- Maintain transparent procurement processes and documentation.
- Ensure statutory and contractual compliance.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Maintain ethical procurement standards.
10. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor procurement, warehouse, logistics, and inventory teams.
- Set KPIs and monitor team performance.
- Conduct training and capability development programs.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives.

- Proven experience in vendor management, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiation.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing multi-location supply chain operations.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel extensively to branches, workshops, yards, OEM facilities, and project sites.
