About the Role:
Aditya Birla Science and Technology Co. Pvt. Ltd. (ABSTC) seeks a technically strong Scientist for the Materials & Process Engineering group, Carbon Black Domain. The role demands hands-on expertise in FEA-based simulation of rubber and tyre components, with the ability to independently execute R&D projects from ideation to deployment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design & execute FEA simulations for rubber formulations to develop insights about structure-property relationships.
- Execute R&D projects for performance assessment of carbon black in end-user applications.
- Develop expert solutions for assigned projects/support activities through effective cross-functional collaboration, adhering to timelines and budget.
- Contributes to scientific and technical ideation and scoping of new projects in modelling and simulation to resolve technical issues of stakeholders.
- Utilize and implement in-house simulation workflows to execute the design of experiments within the specified delivery timeline.
- Publish and present research in national and international journals and conferences.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability through portfolio delivery; represent the organisation within ABG and at external forums.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience executing projects with complex physics: solution evaluation, troubleshooting, and design modification using commercial FEA software.
- Experience and knowledge of high deformation simulations with viscoelastic materials, heat transfer, and coupled thermomechanical simulations.
- Strong fundamentals in finite element analysis, continuum mechanics, constitutive modelling, and fracture mechanics of soft matter.
- Proficiency in ABAQUS; scripting experience with Python libraries.
- Experience in test and simulation method development for performance assessment of tyre or rubber components, including method validation and deployment.
- Effective communication skills for project and team management.
Good to Have:
- Experience/knowledge in coupled thermomechanical simulation of rubber.
- Experience/knowledge in fatigue theories and failure modelling of rubber.
- Research experience in R&D projects with successful implementation outcomes.
- Working experience in tyre simulation.
Qualification:
- M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Rubber Technology from premier institute with good academic and professional work experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of continuum mechanics and fracture mechanics, viscoelastic characterization of rubber
Experience:
- 0–3 years of relevant experience in FEA and simulation of rubber/tyre components
Key Competencies:
- ABAQUS, Finite Element Analysis, PYTHON scripting, Rubber Characterization, Rubber Fatigue, Tyre Simulation
