About the Role
Horizon Experiential World School is looking for a caring, responsible, and child-friendly School Nurse & Teaching Assistant to support our Kindergarten and Primary students.
The role includes first aid, basic health support, student medical records, parent communication, and classroom support. As HEWS is in its founding year with a small student cohort, medical duties are expected to be light on most days, so the role will also include Teaching Assistant support in KG and Primary classrooms.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, stays calm in emergencies, and is willing to support both health care and student care responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff during school hours.
• Respond to minor injuries, illness, fever, allergies, stomach pain, headaches, and other common school health concerns.
• Maintain the school infirmary, student health records, medicine records, incident reports, and emergency contact details.
• Administer medicines only as per school policy and written parent/doctor instructions.
• Coordinate with parents in case of illness, injury, or medical concern.
• Support KG and Primary teachers during classroom activities, routines, transitions, and small-group work.
• Assist children with hygiene, handwashing, meals, hydration, settling, and basic student care routines.
• Help supervise children during arrival, dispersal, outdoor play, snack/lunch time, field activities, and school events.
• Observe children’s general wellbeing and inform teachers or school leadership if a child appears unwell, distressed, or unusually tired.
• Support teachers with simple classroom preparation, learning materials, and maintaining a calm, safe classroom environment.
Candidate Profile
• ANM, GNM, B.Sc Nursing, or equivalent nursing qualification.
• Prior experience in a school, preschool, paediatric clinic, hospital, or childcare setting is preferred.
• Freshers with the right attitude and strong child-care orientation may also be considered.
• Warm, patient, responsible, and comfortable working with young children.
• Calm and alert in emergencies.
• Organised and careful with records and documentation.
• Good communication skills in English; Telugu and/or Hindi will be an advantage.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• First aid and CPR training will be an added advantage.
Working Hours
Full-time school hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional support required for school events or parent programmes.
