Role Summary
We are looking for a Satellite Avionics Lead to lead a team responsible for the architecture, design, integration, and validation of satellite avionics across both electronics hardware and embedded firmware. The role covers OBC, EPS/power interfaces, sensor, communications and actuator electronics, FPGA/MCU-based control boards, bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded software, qualification testing, and subsystem delivery from concept to flight readiness.
Location: Hyderabad
Experience: 5+ Years
Employement Type: Full Time
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end avionics architecture for command and data handling, OBC, power interfaces, telemetry, health monitoring, and payload/control electronics.
• Lead a team responsible for schematic design, PCB layout review, power-tree definition, mixed-signal interfaces, protection circuits, connector selection, and harness architecture.
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ on bare-metal and RTOS-based platforms for real-time control, telemetry, task scheduling, inter-task communication, fault handling, boot and update flows, driver development, and subsystem operations.
• Drive board bring-up, hardware-software integration, FPGA/MCU interfacing, interface debugging, root-cause analysis, and lab validation using standard electrical test equipment.
• Ensure EMI/EMC-ready avionics design and firmware-aware integration through proper grounding, shielding, filtering, PCB layout, return-path control, harnessing, and test support. • Drive component selection, design trade-offs, reliability/FMEA inputs, manufacturability, vendor coordination, and subsystem-level technical decisions for mission needs.
• Prepare and review requirements, schematics, BoMs, interface documents, test procedures, qualification plans, verification reports, and integration plans.
• Work closely with mechanical, GNC, software, EPS, payload, manufacturing, and AIT teams while mentoring junior engineers and driving subsystem closure.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Avionics, Aerospace, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience across electronics hardware and embedded firmware development, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems, for high-reliability or mission-critical applications.
• Strong experience in schematic design, multi-layer PCB design/review, board debugging, mixed-signal electronics, power interfaces, and FPGA-based digital design or integration.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ on bare-metal and RTOS-based embedded platforms, including task scheduling, synchronization, inter-task communication, driver development, interfaces, and real-time firmware architecture.
• Good understanding of MCU/FPGA/SoC platforms, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, RS-422/485, ADC/DAC, sensors, actuators, regulators, and power electronics.
• Strong understanding of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, noise mitigation, and mixed-signal hardware debugging; SI/PI awareness is a plus.
• Prior experience in satellite, spacecraft, launch vehicle, defense, or other mission-critical embedded systems.
• Experience with environmental testing, qualification hardware, FPGA-based systems, firmware verification, manufacturing handoff, and flight or high-reliability development.
